White Gelato Cake

Indoor Zaza, and it earns the label. The buds come heavily frosted — pale, tight and dense, with the kind of trichome coverage that gives a bud a white cast rather than a green one. That pale colour is where the White in the name comes from, and it's genetics rather than a forced finish.

Trim is hand-finished and the cure is slow, which matters more on a dessert-profile strain than most: the terpenes that make a Gelato cross taste like cake are the same ones that fade fastest if a plant is dried too quickly.

We rate this one 10/10, and we don't say that often. Sweet cream and cake lead, rich and dessert-like rather than sugary, with the gas that made Gelato famous sitting underneath and holding it together.

It's a deep nose rather than a sharp one — it fills the room when you open the bag, and it develops further when you break a bud. If you judge flower on smell first, this is the one on the menu built for you.

Smooth and full-flavoured, with the cream and cake carrying right through rather than fading after the first few pulls. The cure shows here: no harshness on the throat, and a clean, pale ash rather than a dark, smoking burn.

Strength is up with the top of the flower range. It's a hybrid that leans relaxed — enough head to keep it interesting without pinning you down, and a heavy enough body to make it an evening strain more than a morning one.

Worth smoking properly rather than rushing. Grind it fresh rather than pre-grinding and leaving it — on a dessert profile the aromatics are the whole point, and they're the first thing to go once ground flower sits in open air.

It works in a joint, a bowl or a vape, but if you have a dry herb vape this is the strain to put through it. The lower temperature protects exactly the terpenes this one is built around.

Airtight glass, cool, dark. Heavily frosted flower is more delicate than it looks — the trichomes carry the flavour and they knock off on fingers, grinder walls and anything else they touch, so handle the buds as little as you can.

Across the larger weights, keep what you're not using sealed rather than dipping in and out of one open bag. Cured flower left exposed loses the nose long before it loses potency, and on this strain the nose is the reason to buy it.
